Which countries do Edison Institute of Nutrition graduates work in?
Edison Institute of Nutrition maintains a relationship with several governing bodies. As a result, your Edison Institute of Nutrition education is recognized in many different countries.

Are Holistic Nutritionists considered a regulated healthcare profession?
In most jurisdictions, including Canada, holistic nutritionists are self-regulated through an association. They are not regulated by the government. As a result, you are not required to be member of a regulated body, similar to those which are necessary for naturopathic doctors, dentists, and medical physicians. However, membership in professional associations like the International Organization of Nutritional Consultants (IONC), the Canadian Association of Natural Nutritional Practitioners (CANNP) and the National Association of Nutritional Professionals (NANP) (USA) does have its benefits, including greater credibility.
Do I need a background in nutrition or healthcare to enrol at Edison Institute of Nutrition?

Is Edison Institute of Nutrition program easy to navigate?
We have partnered with an industry-leading online education platform to ensure that you have a seamless and user-friendly learning experience. Whether you are tech-savvy or have minimal computer skills, the Edison Institute of Nutrition’s programs will be easy to navigate. Should tech support be required, you will have access to our IT manager, who will work to resolve any issues. We are here to support you and ensure your success!
I don’t want to complete a full program, but I’m interested in taking one course. Is this allowed?
If you have a general interest in holistic nutrition but do not want to complete a diploma program, you may be interested in Edison Institute of Nutrition’s Introduction To Holistic Nutrition Program.
It is designed to be a general knowledge program for those who are looking to enhance their ability to care for themselves or their family members. This program does not give you a professional designation.

What support and communication is available for students?
This is an important question to ask! It is critical to know who will be guiding you in your education and what experience they have to offer.
That goes double for an online program. How will you be able to access and benefit from your instructors’ experience?
Lynne Hinton and Marlene Marshall, the owners of Edison Institute of Nutrition, each have over 25 years experience running their own successful nutritional consulting practice, along with continuing educational courses for practitioners. They have a wealth of knowledge and experience to share and are actively involved with our students on a daily basis. Each of our instructors brings at least 15 years of clinical experience to the development of our course curriculum.
Even though our program is online, you do not need to feel isolated. You will have direct access to instructors and the student body, through our private Facebook group.
How long is Edison Institute of Nutrition’s Diploma in Holistic Nutrition program?
The Diploma in Holistic Nutrition (DHN) program is a total of 2000 hours, which includes six modules. Most modules include five subjects. Full-time students can complete this program in one year. Part-time students tend to complete the program within 2 years. These are averages. You will have the flexibility to finish at your own pace, within a 3‑year time frame.
When do semesters start at Edison Institute of Nutrition?
Our program operates independently of the traditional school year calendar. You can begin, when ready, and will have 3 years from that point forward to finish the program. Although, it can be completed in 1 year depending on the time you devote to your studies. This allows you to manage your study time in relation to other commitments that you may have.
What if I can’t finish the program on time?
An extension may be granted to allow you more time to complete the program. A reactivation fee may apply.
What Continuing Education subjects or training courses do you offer?
We offer a variety of CEU’s approved by the nutrition associations. They include the Nutritional Preceptorship Program (NPP), the Certified Holistic Cancer Practitioner Program (CHCP), the Advanced Diploma in Holistic Nutrition, the Live Cell Microscopy Training (LCM), The Practitioner’s Tool Kit, and the Metabolic Balance Certified Coaching Program.

Does Edison Institute of Nutrition focus on a specific dietary plan or belief?
Every individual is unique, which you will see as your assessments and consultations unfold. Your Edison Institute of Nutrition education is based on this perspective. We do not believe in a one size fits all plan or focus on one specific diet. Our program will teach you various aspects of dietary intake based on the individual’s needs not just a theory.
What is the difference between Edison Institute of Nutrition and other schools?
While many schools build their programs around a combination of holistic nutrition and mainstream dietician teaching, Edison Institute of Nutrition’s program is based on holistic functional nutrition combined with scientific research. This gives you a more direct window into the art and science of holistic nutrition beyond what many other programs offer.
We offer a very in-depth curriculum consisting of 2000 hours.
You will learn the detailed concepts of critical thinking when it comes to assessing your clients, creating personalized nutrient and supplement recommendations, and working with serious cases.
We also teach you the nutritional interpretation of blood testing, hair analysis and many other forms of testing. Our program includes the use and benefits of Biotherapeutic Drainage (homeopathic), not available through any other holistic nutrition program.
In every field, there are many that have textbook knowledge but do not know how to put it into action. Our instructors are dedicated to working with you to ensure that you are ready to practice with confidence! In particular, we offer two full courses on how to structure your client appointments, assessments, and recommendations. – (SYMP1) Nutritional Symptomatology and (SYMP2) Advanced Nutrition Practice.

How do I register for your programs?
To enrol for any of Edison Institute of Nutrition’s courses, visit our Registration page.
How do I apply for advanced standing?
An Advanced Standing Credit Transfer Assessment will be completed to determine which subjects will be exempt. We require a copy of your transcripts from previous institutions. We will create a custom program for you. You will not be repeating subjects that you have studied elsewhere. There is a non-refundable $90.00 fee for this assessment.

Can I get credit for subjects taken through other educational programs or schools?
Absolutely! Those who have already covered some of the subjects in the Diploma Program through university courses or within another holistic nutrition program may apply for transfer credits. Credits may be awarded for post-secondary courses deemed to be the equivalent to EIN’s course subjects (i.e., Biology, Anatomy, Chemistry). Once we have completed an assessment, we will create a custom program for you.

How much is tuition?
The tuition fees vary for each course and program. For detailed information, refer to the specific course page that piques your interest.
Where do I buy the textbooks from?
Textbooks are purchased through Amazon (Canada), Amazon (United States), Abe Books, Alibris or book sellers of your choice.
The textbooks purchased through booksellers will cost approximately $765.00.
Resources from Edison will cost approximately $414.00.
